The evening begins with a dance class taught by one of Fresno’s most popular dance teachers, Phoebe Romero. The one hour dance class starts at 8:45 p.m.. A partner is not required, because participants rotate partners. The class is designed to learn the basic steps; Learn to dance with a partner (Leader/Follower); and execute a few turns and spins. The dance class is an excellent way to meet people and make friends. After the class, the music adventure begins with Fresno’s best Salsa D.J.s playing the best Salsa, Merengue, Batchata and Reggaeton. Live percussion is played along with the music to add spice and emphasis the tumbao and clave. If you close your eyes you may think you are at a live musical performance. Throughout the night, a video collage of Salsa’s history and special performers is shown to entertain, educate and enhance the total Salsa Experience. At the end of the evening, the ladies receive a single red rose to cap off their special evening. The best way to experience Salsa Music is through live music performances. Over the past 2 years, the Starline Salsa Club has presented monthly live Salsa concerts. The best Salsa performers come to Starline from Los Angeles and San Francisco. Our Valley location is unique: Nowhere in California can you see the best salsa talent from Northern and Southern California in one place. The concerts are typically on Saturday. See the calendar for future events. Past performers include: Johnny Polanco y su Conjunto Amistad, Orquesta Charanson, Phil Robinson y Sonora Pa Gosa, Julio Bravo y su Orquesta Salsabor, Orquesta La Palabra, Orquesta Borinquen and many more. There is a special energy created between dancers and performers when the music is grooving and the dancers feel the beat. The musicians and dancers feed off each other’s energy. The concerts are an excellent opportunity to come and watch a large salsa orchestra perform. The musicians in these orchestras are some of the most talented musicians of out time. Though Salsa music has roots in the Caribbean its appeal is worldwide. It brings together all ethnicities and is enjoyed by all ages. Salsa Music is true world music to be enjoyed by all. |
